Projects & Design

The projects I have worked on range from developing models using CAD, to creating designs in Illustrator and InDesign, to prototyping iPhone applications, to researching user experience.

Engaging cyclists with art on Atlanta's BeltLine

My goal for this project is to incentivize cyclists to engage with art along Atlanta's BeltLine — a rails-to-trails project spanning the perimeter of Atlanta — in order to enhance the experience of cyclists riding along the BeltLine. I am currently working with the Arts & Culture department of the BeltLine to bring this idea to fruition.

Lighting artifact challenge

Design Challenge: Design and develop an artifact that emits light which reflects a specific person's emotional and physical needs and attitudes towards light.

Revolutionizing the way we consume protein

As part of a design-thinking class, I created an iPhone application as part of a restaurant model that can revolutionize the way society perceives alternative protein sources by creating a behavioral shift in the perception of vegetarianism and veganism.

Technique newspaper layouts

A large part of my job as Features editor was to layout the "Life" section for the weekly publication of the Technique. This requires a proficiency in Adobe InDesign, a basic knowledge of Illustrator and an eye for design while adhering to AP style guidelines. Here are a few of my featured designs.

Improving Way-finding in Atlanta's Public Transportation

The ability to easily navigate through public transportation without the use of an app is a fundamental yet overlooked element in creating a working transportation system. The purpose of this project is to create clear, concise and consistent signage and design language for Atlanta's public transportation system, MARTA. Users need to be able to trust the public transportation system so that it can become integrated into not only the lives of people living in Atlanta, but also those who visit.

Bio-Inspired Submarine

For an Engineering Graphics and Visualization class, my task was to create a prototype for submarine with a group of three other engineers. We decided to take a bio-inspired approach, incorporating the stingray's mechanism of propelling itself through the water. The fins of the submarine were modeled through individual rods, each moving in a wave-like pattern similar to a stingray's.
